Thanks for the delivery details. Our team reviews every request personally. While you wait, these are the questions owners ask most.

Delivery FAQ

What happens next — and what owners usually want to know.

Straight answers. No brochure fog.

Q1 How soon will someone get back to me?

Usually within one business day — often sooner if you caught us mid-dock. If it’s time-sensitive (haul-out window, weather window, broker closing), say that in the notes or text (754) 254-1819 and we’ll escalate.

Q2 What do you need for a delivery quote?

Boat year/make/model (or length), where she sits now, where she’s going, preferred window, and whether you want to ride along. Photos of the vessel and any yard/haul constraints help. Broker or yard contact is a bonus — not required to start. A recent survey is also nice to have so our team can study the boat before we quote.

Q3 Can I ride along / owner-aboard?

We expect owners will want to make passages from time to time — and you’re welcome to talk about it. On longer 24/7 runs we generally count a couple as one person toward the watch, and we still want a minimum of three crew aboard total. That’s the floor for safe rotation, not a slight.

If you’re new to the ocean or unsure, we’ll talk it through first — wind, weather, and length of passage all matter. The last thing we want is a first passage that scares your partner out of loving the boat. Men: if you frighten her on trip one, you may lose her support for trip two. Better we size the crew and the route honestly before you cast off.

Q4 Domestic vs international — what’s different?

Domestic is mostly logistics and timing. International adds paperwork, customs/immigration, canal or border rules, and often longer weather windows. Same captain standard either way — the checklist just gets thicker when you leave the country. Tell us both ends of the trip and we’ll flag what’s extra early.

Q5 Who covers fuel, marinas, canals, weather delays?

Owner covers the boat’s running costs on the trip — fuel, dockage, canal/transit fees, vessel provisioning, and the like. Weather holds happen; we plan conservatively and keep you in the loop so a delay doesn’t feel like a mystery invoice.

What you’re hiring us for is the logistics layer most owners don’t want to learn the hard way: routing, timing, marina/canal sequencing, crew, and when to wait vs when to go. Our delivery fee and crew travel to/from the boat are spelled out in the quote up front — so the value is calm decisions, not surprise line items at the fuel dock.

Q6 Insurance — whose policy during the move?

The vessel stays on the owner’s hull/P&I (or whatever policy your underwriter requires for transit). We don’t replace your insurance — we work with it. Before we leave the dock we confirm what’s needed for the route, crew, and any owner-aboard piece so you’re not guessing mid-passage.

That’s part of why owners hire us: we treat insurance and risk as logistics, not fine print after the fact. If your broker needs a captain CV, float plan, or transit wording, say so early and we’ll help package it.

Q7 How does docking / handover work at arrival?

Arrival isn’t “tie up and wave.” We plan the slip, lines, timing, and who’s on the dock before we commit the last miles. You get a clean handoff — keys, walkthrough, what’s hot/cold on the boat — so you’re not discovering a dead battery alone at dusk.

That’s the logistics premium: we don’t just move the hull; we land it like owners who’ve done this a hundred times, then put the boat back in your hands without the chaos.

Q8 What if the boat isn’t ready?

Sometimes parts don’t show when they said they would. Sometimes they’re a pain to source. And yeah — sometimes you’re a couple hours down the Intracoastal and something goes sideways. When those unknowns hit, our job is to solve them fast and keep everybody safe — before we leave the dock, and after we’re underway. That’s the whole point of hiring a team that’s done this before: not panic, just get it handled.

Q9 Do you also train me on my boat after delivery?

Yes — that’s a big part of why people use us. We can move the boat, then stay on and train you on your boat in your marina — docking, lines, the stuff that matters the first week you own her. Delivery gets her there. Training makes sure you’re not white-knuckling the first time you leave the slip. Same captains, same standards — see YachtTrain when you want the coaching week.

Q10 Storm / hurricane season — do you still move boats?

Season doesn’t mean we quit — it means we’re pickier. We watch the cones, the windows, and when it isn’t smart to leave. Sometimes that means wait. Sometimes it means go early. We’re not heroes for shoving off into a mess; we’re the team that keeps the boat and the people safe and still gets the job done when the weather allows. That’s the hire.
